Soup bowls with text: food, sleep & habits that feel good in the off season

What if your best running year is about more than your finish time?

As marathon runners, we're accustomed to setting goals. We choose a race, follow a training plan, track our miles, and work toward a finish line. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself what you really want from the experience? Maybe last season didn't go as planned. Perhaps you struggled with an injury, lost motivation halfway through your training block, or found yourself exhausted when you wanted to feel strong. Maybe you reached your goal but felt unexpectedly lost when the race was over. Or perhaps things went well, and you're ready to explore what's next. Wherever you are in your running journey, you deserve the opportunity to consider what matters to you—not just as a runner, but as a whole person. Your running goals are part of your life. Let's make room for the bigger picture.

A Different Approach to Your Running Goals

Most running plans help you determine how far to run, how fast to go, and when to train. But they don't necessarily help you answer the questions that give those miles meaning. Why does this goal matter to you? What resources—time, energy, and attention—will you need to pursue it? How will you keep joy in the process? And what will success mean beyond the finish line? In this workshop, we'll explore four dimensions of a fulfilling running season: Purpose: Connect with your deeper reason for running and what this season means to you. Resources: Consider the time, energy, and attention you have available to support your goals. Joy: Identify what makes running meaningful and how you want to experience the journey. Freedom: Explore what it means to be more than a race result and how you want running to fit into your life. These four areas offer a broader perspective for envisioning your year. Rather than simply choosing a goal to chase, you'll have the opportunity to consider the kind of experience you want to create.

What You'll Take Away

By the end of our time together, you'll have: A clearer vision of what you want from your running year. A written personal intention to serve as an anchor throughout your season. A broader perspective on how your running goals connect with your priorities, resources, and overall well-being. A guided relaxation recording to revisit your intention and practice whenever you need a moment to reconnect. You don't need to have all the answers before you arrive. Bring your curiosity, your running experiences, and an openness to exploring what's possible.

Hi! I'm Angie

I'm Angie Clark, Ed.D., a marathon runner and Marathon Recovery Specialist, and the founder of Run+Ritual. I've completed 35+ marathons and five ultras. Running has been a meaningful part of my life for years, shaping how I understand discipline, resilience, growth, and the relationship between effort and recovery. But my experience has also taught me that running is about much more than the miles we log or the times we achieve. My background in yoga and Ayurveda informs the way I approach running and recovery. I'm interested in what helps us pursue meaningful goals while caring for the whole person along the way. I created this workshop to give runners space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters before another training season begins. Because I believe you can pursue ambitious running goals while making room for joy, personal growth, and a life that feels good to live.
